The following baggage rules apply to most air carriers. It is recommended that you check with your specific airline's Web site for their specific baggage rules.
You're allowed one carry-on bag, which can measure up to 10" H x 17" W x 24" L (25 x 43 x 61 cm), plus one personal item, such as a purse, briefcase or laptop computer. At least one of the items should be stowed under the seat in front of you.
Important: Keys, medication, and travel documents should always be packed in your carry-on baggage.
The following items may count as your "one" carry-on bag and may exceed the carry-on dimensions as long as they can be safely accommodated in a proper stowage compartment in the cabin of the aircraft.
All items brought onboard count toward your carry-on limit except the following:
-
Coats, hats, umbrellas
-
Reasonable amount of reading material
-
FAA approved child/infant restraint seats to be occupied by a child
-
Stroller
-
Mobility assistive devices (e.g. wheelchairs, canes and crutches)
-
Medical supplies and small medical equipment (e.g. CPAP machine for sleep apnea). Visit Travelers with Disabilities and Medical Conditions on the TSA website for more information on allowed medical items and screening procedures.
-
Small musical instruments (e.g. violin, flute, clarinet, or a small guitar) provided they are of a size or shape that can be safely stowed in an overhead bin or closet. Any musical instrument (e.g. oversized or odd-shaped) that cannot be properly stowed, must be checked or travel as cabin seat baggage.
-
Ashes in an Urn. Ashes must be in a sealed, leak-proof container that fits in an overhead compartment. For information about TSA screening requirements, visit the Transporting the Deceased section of the TSA website.
Prohibited Items
Many common items used everyday in the home or workplace may seem harmless; however, when transported by air, they can be very dangerous. In flight, variations in temperature and pressure can cause items to leak, generate toxic fumes, or start a fire.
Please refer to the
Permitted and Prohibited Items of the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) website for a complete list of items which are federally restricted from being carried onboard our aircraft.
In addition to the items found on the TSA website, some airlines have additional restrictions on carrying or checking the following items:
Please check with your carrier for their complete list of items

Lithium Batteries As of January 1, 2008, customers may no longer pack spare lithium batteries of any kind in checked baggage. Customers can carry spare lithium batteries for devices such as laptops, cell phones and cameras, but they must be packed in their carry-on baggage with the terminals covered/insulated. Customers may check bags that contain lithium batteries only if they are installed in the electronic devices. Damaged batteries will not be accepted for transport. For important details regarding the safe transportation of batteries/battery-powered devices while flying, please visit Safe Travel web site.

Dry/Wet Ice Wet Ice is prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage. Dry ice may be placed in carry-on and checked baggage subject to the following limitations: In all cases, the packaging must allow for the release of carbon dioxide gas. For carry-on baggage and checked baggage, the limit is 5.5 pounds per package. The package must be marked with the net weight of the dry ice or the statement that the net weight of dry ice is 5.5 pounds or less. The name of the contents being cooled, along with the words "Dry Ice" or "Carbon Dioxide, Solid" must be on the outside of the package.

Perishable and Trophy Items It is your responsibility to properly package all perishable items and these items are checked at your own risk for spoilage. We recommend that you package raw meat and seafood so it is able to withstand a minimum of 48 hours in transit without refrigeration.
Fish and raw game meat may be accepted as baggage only if packaged in a leak-proof container (Styrofoam not accepted). Gel ice is recommended, but up to 5.5 pounds of dry ice is acceptable. Items containing dry ice must be declared at check-in and labeled on the package. Wet ice is not allowed. Freeze or chill meat and seafood thoroughly before packaging for optimal final destination temperature.
Antlers and horns are only accepted as checked baggage if they are properly packaged in an enclosed container and meet normal size and weight restrictions. Items that are oversized, overweight, or improperly packaged must be shipped via Air Cargo. Please keep in mind this will require additional time as the Air Cargo offices may not be near the departure terminal in some cities.
